Collaboration with the Anna Lindh Foundation!

Our Med MDIO had a long and productive year encouraging the Med Rotaract clubs for more International & Community Service projects as well as fostering the relationships between them through more joint initiatives. Furthermore, the creation of strong international bridges and the promotion of peace was highly encouraged through our conferences.

Our International service Coordinator and Egyptian Country Representative Raghda El Roumy approached the ANNA LINDH FOUNDATION (EURO-MED) and oragnized several meetings to discuss a potential collaboration between the foundation and Rotaractors of the Med MDIO.  These meetings took place in the Anna Lindh Foundation Headquarters in Alexandria, Egypt. The foundation’s Executive Director Ambassador Hatem Attalla & its Liaison Officer and past Rotaractor Noha Kawana joined the meetings with our board member.

The Anna Lindh Foundation is an inter-governmental institution thats unites the civil society and citizens across the Mediterranean in order to strengthen the trust between them as well as to improve their mutual understanding. Its presence in all our Mediterranean countries constitues a great opportunity for our Rotaract Clubs to reach out to a major network of civil society organisations, distributed in overall 42 countries.

The aim of this organization is to support and fund initiatives which enhance the Inter-Cultural dialogue and peace promotion all around Europe and the Mediterranean. The ALF has several programs for the Youth and supports Network Intercultural Actions for their members. In addition, it is important to note that it can become sponsor of proposed projects.

The goal of our Med MDIO is to ensure a high quality support for wide-scale community & International Rotaract Projects through potential partnerships with Civil Society Organizations.Apart of assisting and supporting the Mediterranean Districts, the Med MDIO can also be a channel of communication for a collaboration between them and the ALF. Moreover, the Districts will be able to apply for a membership in the organization network. Each district shall carry its own initiative in each country’s network.

The Executive Director Ambassador Hatem Attalla is going to be one of our speakers during the 4th Mediterranean Peace Forum which will take place in the MediCon 2017 Croatia this April! We will honour his presence.
